Leaving for Savoonga

I took this picture the other day on Anvil Mountain and you can see all of Nome from the mountain top. There have been so many absolutely BEAUTIFUL picture opportunities but of course I never have my camera...I was going to shoot a few pictures outside my front door so you can see what I am seeing right now, but it was raining.....don't want that first impression to be a lasting one...will wait till a prettier day. And I need to start carrying that camera of mine around my neck at all times ready to shoot at any time.
Leaving for Savoonga tomorrow....where there is no cell phone service (does not really matter anyway...my worthless Alaskan GCI cellphone does not hardly work 'domestically'). I just finished packing my bags and getting all my food together. I never thought the day would come when I would stoop so low as to eat oysters!! Just the thought........oysters. Well, the day is here....I have them packed for the trip, they don't have to be refrigerated and they have a lot of protein. I gave it a test try and ate them on some wheat crackers and they were not near as bad as I had imagined. They are indeed eatable and doable for me. My plane leaves at 0900 Monday and I will probably land at 1900 Thursday night back in Nome...but many people have gotten 'trapped' in Savoonga due to weather...so I will not hold my breath for coming home Thursday night...just in case...better throw another box of oysters in for the trip.
