I have never been one to really "go green". I do try to conserve when I am able but I am not a radical like some people I know. Well...after going to Little Diomede my life is forever changed. There is not running water there in the homes..."honey buckets" are used. (Using the rest room in a bucket). In the winter the trash is taken out on the frozen ice as well as where the same place the honey buckets are dumped. When it warms up...the ice takes all the trash out in the ocean. I asked what do you do in the summer time...they said we just put our trash bags in the water, that is what we have always done. One word .... WOW!! There is NO place to bury anything...nothing.
